Le Soundpainting est un langage qui s'appuie sur des gestes inventés dans les années 80 par Walter Thomson. Cette technique permet l'improvisation et la création collective en temps réel. Elle est dirigée par un soundpainter mais laisse aux musiciens, danseurs ou comédiens une grande part à l'interprétation. Le Soundpainting est également un formidable outil pédagogique basé sur l'oralité, l'interactivité et l'instantanéité.
